My Penslayer

I once saw a girl refer to someone as a "penslayer." I wasn't sure exactly what she meant until I'd finished reading her comment and the reply.

Now, before I go any farther, I believe the term "penslayer" comes from the blog of a young authoress by the name of Jenny, whose blog is called The Penslayer.

To continue, what I believe the first girl meant by saying that Jenny was her "penslayer" was simply that Jenny was the writer and authoress to whom she looked up to, who had inspired her or helped her, or both; or something of that nature.

While I don't believe "penslayer" is an official term, whether it is or not, I'm making it one. Because I'm a writer, and it's the right of a writer to write new things and to coin new terms.

Having said all of that, I'm pleased to present my own penslayer. She's younger than me by 3 years but that simply doesn't matter. Her writing has inspired me, her blog has enthralled me. In fact, if it weren't for her own blogBarefoot in the Snow simply wouldn't be. Without her, I may not have even gotten as far as I have as a writer...which isn't exactly very far yet but it's farther than I would be. And in getting to know her -- by talking when we see each other and especially by reading her blog -- I have found, as Anne Shirley would say, a kindred spirit. Ironic, because my penslayer is the Anne-girl.
